Hi

I have been on 2talk for a little while now and have switched my BB and my local number to them as well.

Since 30 October I have not been receiving any sms messages to my 2talk number.  I cannot send sms messages from my 2talk number either.  I also have not received any emails with sms messages in as well.

I have lost work because of this, clients may not have been able to contact me and yesterday I almost missed an important meeting because of this.

For the past week I have had a support ticket open with 2talk who asked me to use their standard 2talk connect softphone, and send sms messages to and from my normal spark numbers.

Yesterday I received no feedback or updates from 2talk at all.

Has anyone else suffered a problem like this?

Does anyone know how to escalate the problem up the chain of command in 2talk?

I would really like this sorted and I am going be asking them to credit back all the 0.23c they keep billing me for everytime I send a test message that goes nowhere.

I don't want to move or change my number but if they cannot get their AITG and fix this I will have to.

getting grumpy now

You should not be able to send or receive SMS on a GN / LN number

Can you confirm what this number starts with? First few digits

Comes with the number.  You can also configure sms messages you receive to go to your email address as well.

You can buy an extra called MFlex for however many mobile minutes you need to dial.

2talk charge 0.23c per sms you send.

My choice was really dictated by the mainstream mobile providers who do not provide a signal to my house.  With VOIP I can get sms messages at home.  After 15 years with nothing its still novel.  At least it was until the service stopped.

Thanks for the info John

Not interested in the VF sure signal as I have just left VF.  the 2degrees thingy is interesting though.  I have sent them a question to see if I can take my 0282 number with me.  If it is possible then I can keep my current number which all my clients have and my landline can stay with 2degrees.

Really fed up with their technical support or lack of it.  Its now 2 days of silence from them.  I have asked for updates via the support ticket but no reply at all.  Very poor.

@choccers Check out https://www.nad.org.nz/number-register/ and if your number is in the range for mobile numbers then yes you can port to 2degrees mobile

Take note for Wi-Fi calling to work (I use it and it works great) You have to have an approved handset with official 2degrees firmware on it

So I decided to do a quick test of my own.

I made a new 2talk account with a new number on their new now.2talk.co.nz portal.

I then sent an sms to my current 2talk number - fail

I then sent an sms to my spark number - fail

I can make normal phone calls with the new number

called a bog standard 027 number - works

I have looked through the new portal and there appears to be no mention of sms at all.  The call records of me sending sms messages are coded onnet rather than sms.  This is the same for both internal 2talk sms messages and those to numbers outside of their system.

Nothing worse than companies you pay for service, who change stuff, break stuff or stop a part of the previous service and SAY NOTHING to their customers.

@Linux I had a look at the NAD page and there should be no technical reason why my 02825 number could not be ported.  Its currently in a bloc allocated to Vocus but apart from that I suppose it is down to 2degrees whether their system or the company will accept the port.

No reply from them but it is Saturday.

Since I already have my LL with 2talk I should be able to just move that to the new account so they can delete the old one.

I like the unified messaging I had achieve with 2talk, one number rings the mobiles and the home phone as well so clients can get hold of me easily, but since many clients only use sms this is really important for me.
