Is 2Talk still the goto for VoIP? 

 

A customer based in Auckland has their own Yeastar S100 PBX and has quite large mobile calls volume, around 3000 minutes per month.

 

Also of interest to this customer is really good voice quality .. has anyone done any voice quality comparisons recently for different providers?

2Talk is ok until you need support. Their mobile bundles are ok as well, but if you go over, $0.19 / minute adds up a fair bit.

I own Cloud Edge (https://cloudedge.nz) and we removed all of our bundles as we found our clients all saved money with pay per minute.

Our landline to mobile rates are $0.09 / minute for comparison.

backwards: 2Talk is ok until you need support.

 

I've never had a problem with their support, and I've been using them for 10+ years.

 

They do expect you to know what you are doing, though.  They won't hold your hand.

I was only referring to the often large time delays in getting support and limited phone support.

There is no SLA with 2talk, IME.

YMMV, but from where I sit as a 10 year 2Talk user, and we've set up some clients with them, I'm really happy with the service levels.

 

They certainly don't have a call center, and they aren't set up to support end users.  That is reflected in the price.  Lower support costs are passed on as a cheaper service.  Are they suitable for everyone?  Absolutely not.

Im with Dynamic on this, have used them for well over 10yrs, used to work for a white label reseller doing SME businiess systems, it does help if you know what your doing, because 2Talk dont provide much help, but to be honest rarely had issues.

 

I understand a new kid on the block "Hero" is built by the same guy that built 2Talk, but keener pricing and seemingly better support, but I have not had any experience with them, but probably worth a check out.

You can (and have for a little while now), order Voice Connect 'over the top' - basically then just a standard SIP trunk you can register to any capable PBX.

We have a few 3CX customers who use Voice Connect and it doesnt work very well - but no better than Voyager/Devoli/2talk trunks.

OP - as Cloud Edge mentioned, perhaps look to an MSP like them that has wholesale access to these providers and can therefore be more flexible with pricing.
If you can accurately predict your calling, the 2talk 1000 minute bundle is a pretty sharp rate per minute though.

Ahhh my bad... didn't realise they required you had to buy the base plan before you could buy the $70 1000min add-on. Haven't used 2talk retail for some time (but used whitelabel extensively).

Dynamic that is not correct - only one 2Talk mobile plan is allowable.

 

If you have an MFLEX plan then the Toll Free mobile minutes are charged at a casual rate - if you have a Toll Free Mobile package then all mobile calls are accounted on that package.
