I can't stand protectionism like this.
In Fiji's case the government taxes the living hell out of telecommunications so anything bypassing that is a huge threat to them. I think the wholesale rate from Telecom for NZ to FIJI calling was around 38-45 cents per minute. (this is 1-2 years ago when I helped set up a phonecard)
