the link below shows the handytone setting and I would not know where else to change the settings you suggested.

I wouldnt *think* it's a codec issue, as they're fine calling Aus with iLBC, and I've rung a *ton* of different countries as have customers. I would initially suspect the destination number, but as he's mentioned it's worked fine when calling with a Calling Card. I have been wrong in the past however ;)

I'd highly recommend you give 2talk Support a ring, speak with JD (Its free to call 028 89 4357 from your 2talk line on the ATA) and give him the time & date & destination number you tried, make sure they don't have any issues at their end so we can rule it out. You could always PM me the number if you like and I'll try it from the PBX system here?

That shows the codec order preference. Reorder to:
1. PCMA
2. PCMU
3. G729
4. iLBC
5.
6.
7.

5,6,7 any order of what is left.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Codec's are one of the common no audio issues (behind firewall, network, router type issues etc). This may not be the issues here, but is one of the quickest and easiest to try.

True, but if that were the case it wouldnt work when they rang Aus, correct? The codec doesn't "know" the difference between a local call, a call across the country, or any international destination ;)

No - different carriers will use various codecs at their interconnects. E.G. there was an issue a while ago with calls from WxC to Vodafone: Vodafone would not accept G729; this created lose of audio on certain call setups.

Thanks for the check-up!
I did not have enough time, and the time difference(to CH ands BRD) makes difficult to test. Most likely we'll check over the weekend.
The only details I changed are the codes to the list above. Can't tell any difference yet.
Another detail I was wondering is; can voicemail-center setup messages not be uploaded to 2talk live instead having to record through the handpiece?
Regards
N

You can AFAIK but you need to contact JD, support@2talk.co.nz and I think they charge a couple of bucks for them to upload it for you..

Thanks
Interesting is that there is never a name on the contact details of 2talk nor when I have called over the phone. It makes it a bit unpersonalized. And JD, is that Jude Flood?

Nope, JD is a support tech they got about 6 months ago to man the helpdesk / support inbox.

Jude Flood is one of the head honchos there :)

We tried the overseas contact and line was clear and everything worked well.
So unless the quality changes I leave the settings as suggested above.
To date I'm very happy with the new setup!

Excellent to hear :)

Out of curiosity, what have you got set at the moment as the 1st-priority codec? Still iLBC?

Ah well, cool, if it ain't broke don't fix it ;) PCMA is the equivalent to ISDN-quality calling, so it should sound pretty good :)
