As you saw in the title I have a Dynalink RTA1046VW device on Xnet's open VFx service.
I have it setup to email the incoming call details as it's easier to check when I sit down at the computer that way.
I can receive incoming calls OK usually but I have started noticing there are calls that are going straight to voicemail and not ringing the phones at home - I know this because I was sitting here at the time the call was received and I phoned the caller back who told me they went straight to vmail.

I tried calling xnet but they said "your on open VFx so we can't help, try geekzone. "
I've looked at the RTA1046VW and it's up time shows it's been running during that time and the VoIP was active. I've checked the settings with the VFx manager and it should be set to send unanswered calls to vmail after 8 rings.

Is it likely to be my RTA1046VW in which case maybe I'll just have to change for something Xnet does support or should I try Xnet again? or does anyone have another idea?

Such an issue will certainly be related to the device and SIP registrations timing out.

First thing would be to look at see what your SIP registation period is set to.

The issue will be the sip pinhole closing after a period of time, ie it will let SIP out and this will open the pinhole out but after a period of no outbound it will close and not let SIP in until an outbound SIP packet opens it up again, the reason why it goes straight to voicemail sis that the destination is unreachable I.e no response to the inbound SIP invite and this is the default behavior for VM

Try setting a static ip and a port forward for 5060 to your box this may help, or use sip options to keep the pinhole open, set to 120 secs and see how that goes, if still the same try 60 sec

@maverick Since it's an all in one device I don't think you can, or know how to, set a static IP for SIP.

The device has the following default settings:
+ Encode SIP option with the user agent: RTA1046VW
+ Encode SIP URI with user=phone parameter
+ SIP Register with Expired Time: 240 seconds (range: 30 ~ 86400)
- SIP Session Timer: 1800 seconds (This value must not be less than Min-SE value.)
- SIP Min-SE value: 180 seconds (minimum: 90 seconds)
- Do Not Send My Phone Number
+ Subscribe Voice Mail Service
+ Enable Voice Activity Detection
- Enable Hotline Function on Voice Port 2
Dialed phone number if lifting the handset:  None
Send Telephone Events via Voice Codec
Inter-Digit Timeout Value: 5 seconds (range: 3 ~ 120)
Dial Timer: 4 seconds (range: 2 ~ 120)

where + is enabled and - is disabled.

Which ones should I fiddle with?

opps ... sorry misssed that fact,

that will be interesting as I would expect the device to listen the Registration timer settings and should not time out, can you let me know when it happens again and I will take a look and see if pick up anything.

I have my email setup to check every 30mins for messages.
Recently, last month or so, I have been getting notifications from vfx of received calls but I've been at the computer during that period and the phone has not rung. When I call the caller back they say they went straight to voice-mail.
Some calls do come through OK and I haven't yet been able to see a pattern.
