Hi there,

I have had a Linksys PAP2T connected to XNet (With Orcon as my ISP) for 3.5 years and been very happy with them. I recently changed over to Orcon Genius which basically changes the home line over to a VoIP line, but using their Orcon Labeled VoIP modem, and the XNet VoIP no longer works correctly. 

The XNet lines no longer receives incoming calls, and if I call out I can hear the  call recipient, but they cannot hear me and then the line goes dead after a few seconds.

A very helpful person from XNet suggested this might be a firewall issue, so I set up the  PAP2T (to XNet) with a static IP address and forwarded all the required ports, but with the same failures. Just in case I stuck the PAP2T in the DMZ, and it still fails.

It appears the Orcon modem, or possibly their servers are interfering in some way. as far as I know there should be no problems with a second VoIP device, and the Orcon FAQ says that other VoIP products should work.

Any suggestions would be most welcome,

Your VFX device is probably using port 5060 for outbound registrations. This is probably clashing with the Orcon SIP settings.

Steve will pretty much be correct, if the device dosn't do SIP natting correctly then SIP devices sitting behind routers can have an issue as the SIP port is being handled by the SIP router in front of it, seen this a lot with cheaper routers and poor SIP ALG.

At the moment you have 2 lines setup, can you confirm is this happening on both numbers 68 and 12 ?

Thanks for the replies. David from VFX changed my port number from 5060 to 8060, and still no joy sadly. Neither 12 nor 68works. regrettably it may be the Orcon device doing poor SIP NATting then.

Assuming the Bob2 has the same configuration options as the Bob and aren['t locked down you could try disabling the SIP ALG.
