Issue: (Party A is our 09#)
-Party A calls Party B, or receives call from Party B
-Party C calls Party A, ringing noise is heard by Party C
-Party A receives CWT tone correctly, and after approx. 2s, the CWCID chirp notifies that the CID data has been received
-Party A can still hear Party B before the chirp, but Party B cannot hear Party A (understood to be normal)
-Party A presses flash button, connects to Party C, sometimes putting Party B onto hold, sometimes disconnecting them. If on hold, Party B hears music.
-Party A presses flash button again to return to Party B, but only hears the dial tone – repeated presses still hears dial tone. Party C hears music. Party B, if on hold, hears music.
Party A has no calls connected, and Party B and Party C are still left listening to hold music, waiting for A to return
-New calls from Party A to B or C are met with engaged/busy tone
-Sometimes, Party A is able to reconnect with Party B, and then again to Party C, and then again to Party B, and so on, but at one stage, the dial tone will sound, and B and C are stuck in the PSTN somewhere (or wherever they are). There is no predictability to the results of immediate and successive tests
This issue has been happening since we were set up with 2talk mid 2011. Originally, the ATA was bridged with just the HG556a as a modem/router, and we were using an old Uniden cordless phone that didn’t support CWCID which was disabled, and still worked as described above.
I have tried scouring the web to look for ideal hook-flash timer settings, and the consensus seems to be 60ms-200ms, but it doesn’t appear that changing the hookflash has much effect on consistency of my experience. I have changed these values a lot. If anyone has any information about exactly the role of these min and max values, that would be great too.
Are there any other settings or configurations that need to be considered when trying to get solid Call-Waiting performance? Do I need to look at the modem and ADSL stats? Could I expect to find these errors in the ATA logs, and/or is this something likely to be with ADSL or VOIP provider? QOS wouldn’t be a huge requirement since our network is very quiet.
