My PC, W7-64, can't connect to the iTunes store. I've reinstalled, I've run diagnostics, I've googled, nothing seems to have helped - I don't even know where to start trying to fix it.

The old version worked fine, I've bought heaps of stuff. I just want to buy an album for my Mum. The only other place to buy it's Amazon, and they won't sell outside the US.

I've attached a screen shot of diagnosics. When I click "help" it says "can't help you're not connected to the internet". As I'm posting this I clearly am connected.

Info:
 - Windows firewall is off
 - No proxy
 - Astrill is turned off
 - Primary DNS 203.97.78.43

Help? Can others on Telstra Clear access iTunes fine?

I flushed my DNS cache, and I emptied my hosts file which had lots of ad servers mapped to localhost. Neither helped :(

Thanks, at least I know it's not TC. I'll try a selective startup, see if another service is interfering. It's not antivirus. Nothing else is resident that I know about that does network stuff. The iTunes store is just ports 80/443 so nothing fancy there.

The problem with apple: when things go wrong it's hard to fix up sometimes.

Would someone on TC please do this tracert and ping for me please? The apple website says I should be able to ping them but I can't. My partners computer can't either but she's on XP, and her iTunes works fine. She's on wireless, though a second router, but same internet connection.

ping albert.apple.com

It wouldn't happen to be itunes 11 would it? I have had heaps of problems with it, and had to downgrade back to 10. The apple forums are full of people who have problems with it. There is a downgrade guide on tehir forums. It isn't that easy to downgrade, as the library file will only work with 11, so you have to find an archived library file.

Yes iTunes 11, but it works on my partners XP machine. Downgrade sounds like a good idea thanks, I have fairly good backups.

Can I just delete my library file and recreate it? I don't really use iTunes that much, just for apps from the iPod which I rarely use, and downloading a bit of music occasionally.

Damn, downgrading doesn't seem to have helped. It was quite painless, grab the new version, and iTunes backs up its own library from time to time.

I vaguely remember doing something weird with networking and SSL a few months back, changing all sorts of networking stuff. If I can recall what that was maybe that messed with things. Everything else still works, and I was removing restrictions, not adding them.
