Couple of more issues to report on this. The BT wedge mouse is unusable with Win 8 due to the cursor jumping around all over the place. There appears to be quite a few posts on this, so I suspect it is an issue that has been around for a while.

Also, having given up on using Win 8 - Bluetooth for anything, I have noticed that I often cannot connect to the WiFi on the IPhone if I wake the Surface from sleep. Phone appears in the connection then disappears. If I reboot, then I get a good solid connection. This does not happen if I connect to a normal Wifi hotspot such as my home connection, so I am not sure if it is Phone related or Windows 8.

Connects fine, all functions work on the mouse, but when moving the mouse cursor across the screen is very jumpy. A quick Google shows that it appears to be an issue a few people are having (I suspect it might be related to BT mice in general with windows). It is not always a consistent issue though, sometimes it works fine.

It is almost like it is being interrupted by I/O except I'm not running anything - so could even be interference of some kind.

I am able to replicate the mouse issue now.

The mouse becomes unusable when the Surface is tethered to the IPhone using Bluetooth. When tethered via Wifi, the mouse works fine. I have not tested to see if it is just having two BT devices that causes the mouse instability or if it is the IPhone connection.

However, the surface is often unable to connect to wifi (IPhone tethering) when resuming from sleep requiring either a reboot or switching off & on the wifi on the networks menu until the phone shows up. In this regards I sometimes find the BT connection to be more reliable even if one does need to go through several levels of menus in order to connect to a BT PAN every time the surface is used. Why the BT PANs don't show up on the Network menu where the Wifi connections are shown (a simple swipe from right, settings, network) and auto-connect when waking from sleep I do not know.

If these issues ever get fixed, then I think that the Surface and Win 8 would be ideal for a mobile office environment where connectivity is important. However, with these issues one has to spend a great deal of time finding work-a-rounds and suffering connectivity problems when one should be focusing on getting ones work related tasks complete.
