As a student of the School of Multimedia and Design at Algonquin College, I have an account on the Academic Alliance MSDN, which gives me a free copy of Windows Vista Business. I have the image and my key, but have found myself unable to install the operating system.
The first thing I tried was burning the image to a DVD-R and installing it that way. This proved impossible, as I would enter the key, then it would bring me to a screen that said "Error 0x0". Worse still, this only happened upon booting from the disc. I was unable to even get to the installer from within Windows. The autostart would come up, then when I went to install, it would crash and tell me to try booting off the disc.
The second thing I tried was running the image using Daemon-Tools and installing it on a partition. Again, this failed. I got another error (this time with an actual number, but I no longer have it written down.)
It has been suggested that my disc was corrupted somehow, or the image is bad. But it worked for a few of my classmates, and my computer is fully Vista compliant. Can someone shed some light on this?
