Currently at work we have a computer dedicated to running a barcode scanner that then logs the time of the scan. The software that manages this all is http://web01.aptserver.pccnz.com/apt-childcare-management-software . It seems a bit odd to me that we need to dedicate a whole PC to this task but unfortunately, when it has previously been set up to run off a second screen from the administrators PC every time someone scans in or out it interupts what the admin person is doing at the time. Essentially it is the same as selecting another window so if the admin person is typing she will find she is no longer entering text into the documant she was originally working on.

Is there any way to force the application to operate in the background and not interupt the admin person in Windows 7 Pro?

Cheers,
Chris

Hi there

you could set it up as a service using srvany.exe which would stop it getting focus etc but not every application likes being run as a service so you would have to check it out.

Also when running as a service it wouldn't display any user interface so if you do occasionally need to do something in the app that might be a problem.
