Really cool, just updated my brother in laws laptop from 8 to 8.1 via the store. Was expecting to have to put on update 1 from windows update afterwards, but no, it was preinstalled. Great stuff Microsoft for keeping the store update images up to date. Made it easy, fast and well worth upgrading.

It should be an option. I don't mind the new start menu on a desktop, but its a bit of a pain on servers.

It's coming back in the next update, although it's been redesigned.

Yeah I had seen that. Good mix between the old and the new, and shows there is a big demand for the classic. I'm happy with the return of the start button for now, makes using RDP a lot easier :)

Whats's the main improvements from 8.0 to the latest 8.1 I was doubtful and took nearly a year of owning Win 8 before installing it as didn't think I'd enjoy it.  So i went for a safe option and setup a dual boot with my Win 7 but in the whole time I've had 8 installed I've just not needed to go back to 7 more than a couple of times and not at all in about 6 months.

Is there anything that's really important to update....please note I currently have no internet at home so my pc is hardly ever online other than the occasional wireless hotspot from my cellphone. If there's something stand out I'll just throw it in the car and sponge some updates at a family members lol.

There's no great need to upgrade, but I do think 8.1 with update one feels a lot more polished. As a mouse user its nice having a start button and quick access to shutdown options. It's now also easier to navigate store apps as they have a title bar and display on the task bar.

They're small changes but they improve usability for mouse and keyboard for sure.
