semigeek: 10074 is out now on Fast Ring for those who haven't checked.

Does it give the option to go into the slow ring? The last update locked you into the fast ring, as the option to change it just got that rotating loading circle.

You get the option of going into the slow ring in settings. This build is very good as well. My start menu now launches all the time, something it wasn't doing on the previous build.

Edit - I spoke too soon. if I launch Paint and then close out and then go back to Start, Start won't launch for me. Can someone else try and see if they can launch Start after launching Paint?

I have noted this behavior with several Apps, the Start menu seems paused for about 30 seconds after closing the App.

I get the start menu fluttering open and closed and then losing my app in the last couple builds (including this one)

The new build is getting ever closer to being a great OS, bugs aside design wise it's really nice.

I agree 10074 is looking very good and surprisingly stable. It bodes well foir what the RTM will be like.

I don't know, more of the subsystem is looking less and less like Windows 7, but a lot is still there eg Control Panel (which is useful, but legacy in design)

Bluetooth for example in the task bar is still not Windows 10'd, though sound finally is in this build (which I never thought would happen)

I think theyre still 10 or so builds away from a RTM looking OS

I have also seen the Start menu problem with it not popping up with a click or windows key press. Reboot to fix.

Looking good, though.

When on 99xx versions my laptop (Core2Duo) would almost always crash when coming out of standby. I've leapt straight into 10074 and I can report that that hasn't happened yet.
Also, the WHS2011 connector installed and seems to be working.

99xx on my PC works pretty much perfectly. Waiting until you guys verify 10074 is good before I upgrade. Will definitely be keeping an OS disk image.

Can't find the answer to this online.

Will you be able to upgrade to windows 10 final from the developer preview?  Or will you have to do a fresh install?

It has been hinted at but not formally announced yet. Even if it were available I would go for a clean install of the RTM and get rid of any residual pre-release junk.

I'm thinking about upgrade my main dev box/home server, so wouldnt want to start again.

watching build conference theres some amazing things, considering switching to windows 10 for my phone (depends on a few core apps I need, namely ANZ and sonos)

hopefully you can actually dev publish a universal app to the xbox one without needing a developer license or anything, that would be excellent.

Windows Phone 10 wont be released at the same time as PC/Laptop. The Phone and Xbox releases are scheduled later. There is certainly good stuff going on at Redmond

yeah they said windows phone 10 (not sure if it has phone in its name still) will be out later "this summer", so I suspect around august.

I'm a developer so it's really appealing, if they make a good $600 phone with the dual screen feature Ill be very tempted to upgrade my nexus 5.  come on ANZ, make a windows app.  which they could reuse most of the android code and publish one quickly, that is also really cool.
