I've owned a full copy of Media Monkey for a while as a tool for managing music properly,

Ditto on the Media Monkey, though I'm sure I'm not using it to it's fullest extent , especially as a music player/server.

Though never had an issue syncing ipods, etc

My thoughts are no longer my own and is probably representative of our media-controlled government

tdgeek: This is quite critical, the order that the components are uninstalled

  1. Remove iTunes and its related components from the Control Panel. Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then restart your computer: Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them. Doing so might have unintended affects. To remove these components:

    1. iTunes
    2. Apple Software Update
    3. Apple Mobile Device Support
    4. Bonjour
    5. Apple Application Support
    6. Quit the following programs if they're running:

      • iTunes

      • Apple Software Update
    7. Choose Start > Control Panel.
    8. In Control Panel, open "Add or Remove Programs."
    9. Select iTunes from the list of currently installed programs. Click Remove.
    10. When asked if you would like to remove iTunes, select Yes.
    11. After the uninstallation is complete, don't restart your computer if you're prompted.
    12. If you see other iTunes entries in the list, remove them by repeating steps 4–6.
    13. Using steps 4–6, also remove all instances of:

      • Apple Software Update
      • Apple Mobile Device Support
      • Bonjour
      • Apple Application Support
    14. Restart your computer.

That's useful. Thanks

Upload your music library to the cloud with the google play music manager, then access all your music via Google play music, your pc or phone, or any other device you choose. I ditched itunes 6 months ago and never looked back.
