Why not just ring Lenovo and ask for the original install disks. They should be available for a fee. I think you've wayyy over complicated this situation.

Ok I think the time has come to alert the media

THERE IS A GOD!

(but he has a wicked sense of humour)

So I am now looking at a , all be a not activated , but working even after reboot version of 8.1 running!!

(The crowd goes wild)

I suppose its one of the burdens of being english and that churchill bloke ("no matter the cost") we will never surrender!

I am not sure how i did it unfortuantly

I did format the key with that windows software app rufus?

and i burn /loaded a version of windows 8.1 onto it

whilst in the windows enterprise screen I then clicked the setup icon and about 30minutes later voila!

TF thats done Next!

I would Like to thank Nathan for his patience I am sure you had something to do with it! I feel I should buy you a beer!

It's just 8.1 now, not enterprise or pro?

I thought I would just do a final followup on the Think pad Tablet 2

Well after a bit of time I have to say I am quite happy with the little unit

It is no where as good "mechanically as the Ipad" not a smooth in changing screens etc
but its pretty fast and of course its a full windows with a really good scribe pen

The Lenovo update programs and apps are terrible
and
Although it has a slot for a sim card I cant figure out for the life of me how to activate it No helpful "setup your sim card program"

If it hadn't of been for the disastrous upgrading form 8 to 8.1 at $260 with genuine keyboard all up it would have been a bargain.

Such is life

just because it has a SIM tray doesn't mean it actually has a WWAN modem inside it

You could bring up Device Manager and see if there is any modem hardware listed in there.

If you have the appropriate module and drivers installed, WWAN/Mobile Broadband connections are made directly through Windows as usual, and there should be an item that appears in the Networks panel (same panel for Wi-Fi) that is accessible via. the Charms bar or the Network icon in the notification tray.

You can do some configuration of the "adapter" in "Network Connections" in Control Panel (use Windows search "network adapters".)
