I upgraded from Window 7 Ultimate and to mount the Windows 10 ISO image, I installed MagicDisc
Upgrade went without any issues except one - I have a permanent "E" Drive pointing to the Windows 10 ISO image that I can't unmount or disable as Magic Disc has been "removed from the system"

Uninstalling the driver from device manager works until I restart ...

Any ideas?

If you right-click on Drive E can you eject it?

This happened to me too.

If you go to c:\windows.old\program files(x86) you can run the uninstaller from there. This didn't remove the virtual drive for me though. You also can't reinstall then remove magic disc as it's not compatible with Windows 10. The solution probably involves manually hacking it out of the registry... I've decided to leave it for now and do a clean install some time.

Try using Disk Management to remove the drive letter... also uninstalling the MagicDisc entry from Device Manager.

AH!
I didn't even think of going into the Windows.old
Ran the exe from there, that brought up the notification area icon and allowed me to disable the drive

Thank you!

Now I wish Microsoft's checker would have told me it was an incompatible program

Brilliant - and now I wish I'd tried that instead of uninstalling, which removed the folder and left the virtual drive behind...

This is what worked for me:

  • Open Computer Management
  • Open Device Manager
  • Open an entry for Storage controllers
  • Right click on "MagicIso SCSI Host Controller" and select Uninstall.
The efects are instantenous but for the safety restart the computer.

Before I updated my Windows 10 to the latest build, Magicdisc 2.7.106 WAS working for me and now need to reinstall it. Has anyone found a download link for using MagicDisc 2.7.106 for Windows 10?
