Actually it looks like some of the issues discussed in this thread are insider builds and some are retail/release builds. Really there should be two separate threads for those imho.

Windows 10 has been as solid as a rock for me for the past 6-7 months. No BSODs or freezes. It runs like a dream.

By comparison, I have nothing but trouble with it, I really dislike how unstable it is. Reboots are required daily or more. It's incredibly frustrating.

It manages memory terribly. Where in W7/W8 I never got told I was low on memory (I have 12GB), Windows 10 seems to "run low" after about 3/4 of a day for me.

I do typically have 20-50 Chrome Tabs open and maybe 30 Email Windows open, but this is the way I have worked for the past 8+ years without a single problem before.

As a workaround how about Microsoft Mathematics ? Works for me on W10 Prof 64-bit.

Should we need a Work Around for a product that has been in windows for more than 15 years?

Random freezes when using Edge or Firefox so rolled back the display adapter driver to basic 2006 version and no more freezes.    Update to the Intel HD Graphics shows failed but as I had rolled back the driver to the basic 2006 version I don't care!

Interestingly I got very similar freezes when using Linux Mint 17.1 but never on Ubuntu 14.04 or Xubuntu 14.04.

None of my "apps" work. Really don't care about the store and what it gives me but ... No calculator. One day i might discover a way to resurrect it. For now i whip out the iPhone to make calculations.

EVENTVWR will tell you why they are not launching (disabling UAC is one example of why)

Or how about using the Windows 10 "calculator"? If I got to a command prompt and type "calc", I get a calculator like I always did.

Windows-R is another way of doing that. For some reason this reminds me of rescuing machines from low memory conditions where almost nothing works ; ). Clearly not the situations here.

Just curious, was this an upgrade or a clean install from scratch ?

Heh I have tried every combination more than once. To be fair, ever since supporting Windows 3.1 I've held the opinion that Upgrades were the devil, and despite MS's claims to the contrary and the fact I think it HAS improved over previous generations, I believe firmly still that if you want

a more stable system, DO NOT UPGRADE. Install clean. My system is MORE stable after a clean reinstall but still nowhere near "stable" by my definition.

Interestingly, my home PC is considerably better than my Office PC which is an HP Enterprise grade machine.

A relations daughter just inadvertently updated their laptop to Windows 10.

They've since lost some documents and the start bar crashes with a critical error message, leaving it extremely hard to navigate around.

I've had a hunt for them, and having googled this others are having the same issues, with no resolution from Microsoft.

Windows 10 looks great, and I think bridges the gap between Windows 7 and 8/8.1, but in some cases it's proving unreliable.

They'll be reverting back soon.

Any possible solution?

E.g. make it play at a lower resolution rather than slowing down?

The problem didn't exist prior to W10.

First find out if it is actually cpu heat throttling or something else entirely.

gzt: Some insider build info steps for the apps fail issues. Good luck : ).

Pretty sure I installed the proper version ... it was however an upgrade from 8.1 though. It worked fine for a few months though ...
