Not just you. Haven't been on a computer long enough to figure out why since I noticed the problem though.

Hide the update.

Or just leave the computer off.

But seriously, still haven't been on the affected computer so haven't looked at the issue.

I thought there may have been more feedback on this one. It appears to be just me and Stu. I can't even uninstall it as it's not in my "Uninstall Updates" list, but still downloading daily

Finally got back on the Desktop. Not a major, once I actually looked at the problem.

Try this:

Go to your Control Panel, and open "Programs and Features". Look for "Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable" listing, of which there could be both x86 and x64 installed. Right click each one, and select "Change", and then hit Repair. Restart your computer once both have been repaired.

Check for updates again, but that should be the end of the problem. Hope this helps!

The other option is to run SFC/SCANNOW at an elevated command prompt.

This fixes any corrupt System files

The issue mentioned by the OP requires nothing more than the easy fix I've noted. It's not an issue with corrupt system files, just the C++ 2012 install itself. Thankfully.

Thanks Stu. That fixed it, simple when you know how.

Thanks also to robcreid and cisconz for your suggestions

Most welcome. Thankfully, as it turned out, it wasn't all that complicated. (Unlike a computer I had here last week that wouldn't run many windows services and the registry was an absolute mess. Had to be basically manually repaired)
