Hi, my PC which is running Windows 7 has been infected with a pop-up virus and I've had trouble removing it. I've uninstalled suspicious looking programs, and tried scans on different software inc. AVG and Sophos, but it's persistent and I'm wondering how I would go about removing it completely. Firefox, which is the main browser I use, now defaults to http://www.%snf%.com/ on opening, and there are numerous pop-ups which cannot be blocked even when I have Adblock running (not even sure whether this effectively blocks such things). Could someone please suggest what I could use to remove this? Not sure I trust using software suggested through Google searches.

I always follow up with ADWCleaner. It often picks up what MBytes misses.
