I've had Windows 10 Firewall disabled for ages. The last couple of days it just won't stay off - every time I reboot it's on. I guess an update to something caused this. The problem it causes is Kodi can't access the mysql instance on the PC - though I could add a rule to allow that.

I use Avira free antivirus. I thought it was that, but I rebooted today and the firewall was on, but it was marked as off inside Avira.

How do you tell the Windows Firewall to really stay turned off?

Are you running as an Admin user? Have you tried doing these changes as an Admin user?

Creating a rule is the best way, keeping the rest safe.

Yes, always as admin. I did create a rule for the MySQL and SMB ports so if it does it again Kodi might keep working.

Stopping the service will make sure it doesn't come back on.

Yep that should do it. I wonder if a recent update turned it back on, I probably turned it off before.
