Hi all,

Recently I have had a new motherboard installed on my laptop by PB Tech, I have had the laptop back for a while and have encountered a new problem which I am unsure is related to the new motherboard.

I have windows 7 and there is a "FN" key which works kind of like a shift key, and when that is pressed along with the F6 or F7 key it should lower or raise the screen brightness, however now the brightness is the full power on level 1,2,3,5,6,7,8 and dim on lever 4. Obviously 1 used to be the dim and it would increase slightly bit by bit up to level 8 which is really bright.

Now I am left with either a dim screen or super bright screen, far from ideal. I have also changed the screen brightness by sliding the bar in power options and this gives the same result.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Did the motherboard change the video card? There should be some drivers for your video card.
