Hi there
I hav an Asus laptop with windows xp. its about 3 years old so slowing down a bit so thought I would try reformatting and reinstalling a fresh version of xp using a CD version of windows xp that I have used for this purpose before.

I follow the onscreen steps and setup starts formatting the hard drive partition. All flies along fine until it reaches 65% and stops and goes no further. Nothing on screen changes, it just stays stuck on 65%. I have cancelled out and tried again 3 times, and same thing.

Before this the laptop went fine, didnt crash or anything, just needed cleaning up.  Is this likely to be a problem with the disc, remembering I have used the disc before for the same thing, or the hard drive giving up or something else?

The laptop has 1Gb RAM and I think a 1.6GHz pentium processor.
Any help would be appreciated before I cave and buy a new laptop!

I belive there're options of FAST NTFS FORMAT and just NTFS FORMAT, select fast options. If it won't help I suggest you try another WIN XP CD.
