My Widows PC (Laptop) will replaced well before 2025. On average I keep a Windows machine for three years. I am running Windows 11 on my Laptop but there is no features that would make it a must have for me And I would be fine running Windows 10 until replacement.

Why replace a laptop that often? Seems a bit extravagant. What do you run that requires replacement so often? I certainly couldn't afford to do that privately nor justify it from a business point of view.

3 year replacement for a PC can be extremely easy to justify for a business. Productivity is expensive, the last time I replaced my engineers laptops the payback time was around 4 months.

No doubt it can in some circumstances. I'd suggest that wouldn't be the norm.

Unfortunately , thats not the reality that Ive seen, in small/med sized businesses (Im in IT )

They replace when PC's die , or are forced to when systems become too out of date to use (ie new software not compatible)
Ive seen many business PC's running so slow they are barely usuable, yet management wont even pay the $200ish for a fix(SSD) . PC's running so slow
that its actually costing them in loss of productivity .

IT is usually seen as an expense rather than an asset.

@Technofreak I replace them that often as I like to use new equipment. It is not wasted however as I donate my gear to community groups etc

Did exactly that on my wife's office PC. Replacing the hard drive with an SSD transformed the PC out of sight. Best money ever spent.

But there are many things that are not ideal.

I've been running it on my main work computer for nearly a month now and found it to be stable with no show stopping problems. At this stage I have no reasons to go back to Win 10.

So far for me the only operational issue I have is drag and drop to the task bar doesn't work.
i.e. If I have notepad++ running but minimized and drag a file from file explorer to the notepad++ icon on the task bar I would expect notepad++ to restore so I can drop the file in. Works on Win 10 but not on Win 11

Initially was not a fan of the new right click context menu in file explorer, mostly just the layout, but getting used to it now.

That alone would be enough to be a show stopper for me. Dragging and dropping to the Outlook taskbar icon to attach files to email is one of my most used features.

Sounds like you can install it now on Unsupported Hardware as a fresh install, but you can't get Windows Updates for it

That was one of the most stupid decision MS made.
We all know whats going to happen.......old PC's with never updated , insecure W11 installs
People will buy OLD used PC's with W11 , they may not know that it isnt getting updates. Trademe sellers selling VERY old PC's
with the latest Win installed (using 7 key) just to make it look newer

If it cant get updates, dont allow the install .
Why bother trying to make Win11 it more secure if you allow this ?

My desktop that has been running Win 11 since early July as a dual boot system suddenly this morning got booted of the Insider Program saying " Your PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements blah blah .
