Think you need to change the secure boot bit.

I think it might depend on how the storage you operating system is formatted - MBR or GPT.

Still, having followed the above (I think) my PC may still not be compatible (and it should be, again, I think).

Honestly , dont waste your money upgrading CPU's (and possibly mb) to run Win11
Latest gen CPU's may require latest gen motherboards
If you have that sort of money to burn, then just buy a new PC/laptop instead . :-)

My Home PC's Ryzen5 isnt compatible either.
I wont be replacing CPU & MB just for Win11 .

Wait and see what happens when MS see they arnt getting the sales (or upgrades) they hoped for.
Win11 will have a very low market share for some time
With covid's economic downturn , most companies & home users wont be upgrading hardware for a while .

Yeah, that's a fair and valid point. The PC got an upgrade last year to a Ryzen 5 with new M/B etc so it's not exactly old. That seems to be compatible so long as I can do the previous suggestion of changing the drive settings. If not, it stays on Win10 until it next needs a performance upgrade.

The Laptop still does what it needs to do. Was only asking because I don't mind doing hardware swaps and if the same thing was possible on a Laptop I'd look at that option. Since it's not, it'll live on Win10 until they either add support for that CPU or it gets to the point where throwing more ram at it doesn't fix any performance issues and I replace the whole thing.

Yep, I can confirm this. Installing into a fresh VM and it switches over to Arabic when choosing NZ.

FWIW I just upgraded my Surface Laptop 3 and I don't have that issue.

Annoying it says US as the keyboard type in the tray rather than NZ as the language though :-)

EDIT: Sorted, removing the UK pack leaving only NZ means the tray icon disappears.

Easily fixed. Remove one of the keyboard configurations and the icon goes away. This is a long-standing bug/feature where a second keyboard configuration is setup needlessly.

I found this incredibly annoying when I was using Windows as I use NZ regional settings, a UK English dictionary (I refuse to use NZ English), and of course, a US keyboard. Fortunately, our first computers were Acorn/BBC, so if I end up using a UK keyboard for some basic system configuration, it's not hard to adapt.

You clearly didn't have to delve into the layer of hell that was the Territory Manager. I know a guy in France who had to hack his territory ROM so that he could have English language with French time zone!

Serious question, what is the difference? We like our colours, use burgled rather than burglarized etc. I guess we use jail rather than gaol, but writing gaol isn't putting squiggly red lines under it for me so I assume the NZ spell checker accepts both.

The only one that springs to mind is "vege" instead of "veggie".

I still read that one as "veg" without the second syllable.

A Windows non-event:

I have 8 desktop PCs, all built by me, running in a SOHO environment.
All have different specs.
4 have Intel CPUs, 4 have AMD CPUs.
All are medium-to-high-spec, with mid-range CPUs, SSDs, and plenty of RAM.
All run well on Windows 10 (latest).
The oldest is 4 years old, and the youngest is 6 months old.
None of them will accept Windows 11 today - "Standard hardware security not supported".

I have a strong sense of deja vu here - another Windows Millennium Edition? 🙁
