Hi , i,m having a problem opening files with .exe.config extensions, my pc asks me what program i want to use to open it.It all seemed to happen after i downloaded media portal and installed it, the file i,m trying to open is for the tv server setup.Any ideas would be much appreciated,  using windows 7

*.exe or *.config

What extension do you have a problem with?

the file says setuptv.exe when it wont open windows opens box saying cannot open setuptv.exe.config do you want to search internet for program to open it

".exe.config" files are application configs for .NET applications.

Open it with Notepad as it is semi-readable text (as far as XML goes).

If you have file extensions off, windows may be hiding. the .config part, resulting in it showing just .exe (it is the most sily option windows has on by default). If that is the case, you should look for setuptv with no file extension and run that.
