I was having problems with an old graphics card so a mate of mine decided to install a new version of XP on top of the first XP.. so now i have a dual boot going with two XPs.

The poblem is that I cannot hear any sound coming out of the pc now.
I have the logitech 5.1 speakers which are attached correctly and still no sound.

The mother im using is the abit fatal1ty fp-in9 sli.

There is a yellow exclamation besides pci slot and sm bus controller.

cheers

Does it say the drivers arent present for those items or are having problems ?

i havent had a chance to look at that... do you think that could be one of the reasons or does the bus controller have nothing to do with sound?

Could be, even if the sound is onboard is still gets registered as a PCI device, so if you are seeing PCI slot issues then thats most likely the problem.

so i cleaned it all out... formatted the HDD and started fresh.. even found the drivers for the motherboard and installed it through that and I am still getting the same result.. no error when playing sound.. just cant hear anything!

have updated my signature so you can see my config if that makes any difference.

Its driving me nuts!
