i have xp installed.
i plug in a exturnal hard drive with xp mce installed on it. then removed it.
Now every time i boot up i get a screen asking which install to use.

I know why this happens, anyone know how to delete the 'fake' install selection so i dont get this screen again?

You can run MSCONFIG and change the BOOT.INI section accordingly... Make sure you don't delete the current boot though - and you would need a backup of your data just in case.

An even easier way is to goto the control panel.
Double click the "system" icon
Click the "advanced" tab
Click "settings" under "starup and recovery".
Uncheck the box "time to display the list of operating systems"
Click "edit" under system startup.

Under "[operating systems]" delete the line relating to the fake entry.
Save the file "file->save".
It should have gone.
