Hi,

I have just purchased an Eaton 5S UPS, but I cannot get it working in Linux no matter what I try.

Under Linux Power settings, it is recognised, but other than that I can't do anything else with it.

I have tried install NUT, but have almost pulled my hair out. It won't let me edit the conf files. I have tried using Vi, default GUI editor, and sudoedit. The only one that will open it is sudoedit, but I can't get it to save it.

Is there an easy way to set this up? Or am I doing something wrong?

I have an Eaton 5S 700, plugged in via USB to Ubuntu (I'm pretty sure it's 12.04)

Have you tried Eaton's software for nix: Personal Solution-Pac Linux?

Hi,

I have tried following the instruction on the website, and still no luck. The links on the page for the x64 install didn't bring anything up at all, so I'm trying x86. I have added the line of "deb http://opensource.eaton.com/stable/debian/binary/  into the /etc/apt/sources.list file - when I run "sudo apt-get update" I get the error of:

E: Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist)
E: The list of sources could not be read.

I have tried putting the new line at the bottom of the file, but that doesn't work either, just says that there is a different line that can't be read.

It also prevents me from opening Synaptics Package manager.

Another document on the netwanted the line changed to opensource.mgeops.com but still no luck there. I changed it to http://opensource.eaton.com/stable/debian binary/ and although apt-get updated the list, it found nothing there and I was unable to install.

Any further ideas on this?

When doing apt-get update, it sits for a while on this:

Ign http://opensource.eaton.com binary/ Release.gpg
100% [Waiting for headers]

Then it sits on this for a while:

Ign http://opensource.eaton.com binary/ Release.gpg
Ign http://opensource.eaton.com binary/ Release
100% [Waiting for headers]

It then jumps to:
Err http://opensource.eaton.com binary/ Packages
    Undetermined Error
