Topic # 180933 26-Sep-2015 19:43

I noticed a few days ago that I wasn't getting some recent vivid updates.

At http://nz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/archive/ there has been showing various entries of the form

Archive-Update-in-Progress-mirror.aarnet.edu.au

dated within hours of when I looked, except that that one is dated the 24th.  However, comparing roughly with archive.ubuntu.com shows there isn't that much to update.

Perhaps someone who watches here could notify someone, as was done a previous time we had a glitch.

TIA

I've noticed that both the NZ Debian and Ubuntu servers have been not updated in over 7 days. Just tried doing a Debian install which failed when using any of the NZ servers.

Had to switch in the end to the AU servers to do the install. For now, edit your /etc/apt/sources.list file and do a find + replace for NZ and change to AU. I've seen this happen many times on the NZ mirror sites so it really doesn't come as a surprise to me however it is rather annoying. At first I thought it was my apt-cacher-ng setup and spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting :)

I don't think any Citylink reps are on this forum but by the looks it appears their Wellington and Auckland caches are out by upwards of 12 days at the moment.

They had an outage yesterday.  (That's all I know.)  Status page is here.

At time of posting it read:

25/09/15
3:35pm
CityLink hosted debian/ubuntu mirrors currently being synchronised. Expected completion sometime over the weekend.

Oh didn't know they actually had a status page. Cheers for posting that!

Running Kubuntu 14.04 here. I also had to change the updater to access from a off shore server. Nobody home this side of the ditch.

Yes, I do that when necessary, but I think we should support users that are not or do not want to be aware of stuff at this level.

Given that the mirror has been out for at least a week, I'm skeptical that the outage notice indicates they've grasped the real problem.
Nobody home this side of the ditch.

I've just updated and full-upgraded from the Canty Uni server, then updated from the main server, and nothing new was found, so the Canty server was up to date for me.

The status page now reads:
29/09/15
1:16pm
CityLink hosted debian/ubuntu mirrors currently still being synchronised. This process is taking longer than anticipated, our engineers are investigating the cause of this.

The ubuntu wiki says the file whose date should be checked to assess how up to date a mirror is, is ubuntu/ls-lR.gz and at nz.archive.ubuntu.com it has 04-Aug-2015 18:58.  I think they've had a problem since about then.

Just had occasion to check the repository, and it is showing 06-Oct-2015 now.
