Hey guys, under 2.6.18 cups would print to my parallel printer no problems.

The port in the BIOS was set to ECP mode, I've dropped it to SPP for now.

The only difference I can really see is that instead of modules, I've compiled lp, parport, parport_pc and ppdev directly into the kernel.

Even a stop of cupsys and then a cat of a file out to the port doesn't help much.  Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Warren.

Answering my own post :-)

I went mad last night and turned off a whole heap of things in the kernel config - no sound drivers, misc. network cards I don't use, etc.  All removed.

The biggest key might have been the IRQ autosharing magic thingy that I turned off.

However, now printing works (I'm pretty sure I didn't compile lp/parport etc. as a module this time[0]).

PM me if you want the .config copy.

Cheers,
Warren.

[0] - In the past, for some reason some drivers would only seem to work as modules.
