SunTiger:

Just installed Ubuntu and it seems to be working fine, also installed a VPN which is working. Does anyone use antivirus software with Ubuntu, and if so which one? Most users seem to think antivirus isn't necessary

You can try this.... https://www.clamav.net/ but in general, not found one needed.

See here... https://www.linuxcapable.com/how-to-install-clamav-on-ubuntu-22-04-lts/

It's in the Ubuntu repository so no need to download from the ClamAV site directly.

antivirus software does exist for inux distributions. Probably the most common is ClamAV.

However, the intent of antivirus software on linux is not to protect your installation, but rather to check files that you might want to share with users of different operating systems before sending to them.

All good, any suggestions regarding adblockers and tracking blockers?

pihiole works pretty well, though you need to set it up on your network. If you have a linux box its pretty easy to run it from there.

Just use https://nextdns.io along with uBlock Origin.

Remember by blocking ads sites like Geekzone lose revenue so supporting sites you get value from in other ways is a must.
