So I’m changing my old ihug e-mail address to gmail.... just deciding on what e-mail address to have as my current ihug one is too short apparently

I have an apple macbook pro and just using the default mail server that comes with it

My question is how do I add a new account so that I can send and receive e-mails from my gmail account?

I don't want to have to log in to gmail separately - I would like it to come through to the mail server on my macbook

any advice would be welcome thanks  :-)

Are you running a mail server on the Mac, or do you mean you just want to use the Apple supplied Mail application?

If you just want to use the Apple Mail app, then go to System Prefs -> Internet Accounts, and click the big Google button.

thanks - I'm not using an app.... just whatever mail program came as default with the macbook pro

I click on the little post stamp on the tool bar at the bottom and that opens the e-mail (sorry to be so basic)

I remember setting it up 3-4 years ago and had to get the incoming / outgoing SMTP server POP.3? or similar from Vodafone

I just want to know if I can do something similar with gmail so they can come to the same e-mail program

Yep, that's not a mail server you are running, just simply using the Apple Mail App.

As above, go to System Prefs (under the apple menu, or in the dock), choose internet accounts, click on Google, and put in your gmail address and password. Nothing more to do.

EDIT: App = application = program.

Gmail has a guide for everything under settings, Gmail must be one of the most basic things to setup on a computer
