I am currently running the latest Macbook Pro, with boot camp, windows XP SP3 and everything runs very well except for one issue.
I setup my laptop to "torrent" during midnight - 8am (yes I joined the torrent plan from Xnet) and when I get up in the morning, I noticed that bringing up a web page didn't work, so I reset (using repair) my wifi connection, and the macbook pro freezes, I have to power cycle it to get it back to life (Crtl-Alt-Del not work.)

I can "repair" my network connection from a clean boot, no issues, it's only after I've been torrenting, that it does this.

I am running the latest wifi drivers.

Any ideas?

It sounds like the driver is getting overloaded with traffic. SP3 is fairly new - did this happen with SP2? IIRC Bootcamp requires SP2 but I am not sure it was "certified" for SP3 yet.

Thanks for your reply freitasm

I had never tried torrenting with this laptop before, so can only go by my SP3 experience (previously I used my desktop which was SP2 and wasn't using Wifi.)

But what you say about the drive becoming overloaded makes sense, maybe it's time to try and customise the driver. (or find one already done)

Also, there's a Bootcamp update released last month or so. Have you installed that yet?

Thanks, our Mac tech at work just pointed out that a new bootcamp version had been released (2.1)

I have installed this and will see what happens (fingers crossed.)

Have you also tried using the Mac OS to do the torrenting?  Just as a test?  Perhaps boot to OS X and install something like Transmission or Azureus, let that run overnight and see what happens?

Any particular reason you're using XP as your primary partition on the Mac...just out of curiousity?
