I had a wee app on my iMac called Guesstimer.

The App Store shows that it needs updating. Every time I try and update it, I get a message saying that the T&Cs have changed and that I have to agree to them. I agree to them, then click update, then get the same message again.

I tried both my US and NZ App Store accounts - same response.

Then the gnarly thing....Guesstimer is not even installed on my iMac. If I search for it, nothing comes up at all.

So the app store wants me to update an app I don't have, that has disappeared despite my not removing it as far as I can recall!

Anyone have any suggestions or explanations?

I think you meant Gestimer.

I use an App Cleaner App to uninstall Apps which allows you to thoroughly uninstall ALL components of an app called AppCleaner, it is free and I have never had any problems with it.

I think you might have some components of Gestimer lurking around that maybe corrupt.

Redownload it and install from the App Store.

Now using AppCleaner uninstall Gestimer and that should clean everything up.

Redownload it and install from the App Store again and you should be good to go.

Forgot to add.

There is also one other thing you can do and that is use, what I call a "Grease & Oil Change" maintenance program called Onyx. This is a free program that is a multifunction utility that you can use to verify the structure of the system files, to run miscellaneous maintenance and cleaning tasks, to configure parameters in the Finder, Dock, Safari, and some of Apple's applications, to delete caches, to remove certain problematic folders and files, to rebuild various databases and indexes, and more. I always use it prior and post system OS updates and about once a month.

This program is available here: Titanium Software - Onyx. ONLY DOWNLOAD THE VERSION FOR YOUR macOS

Yes, I have and use Onyx.

I'll try the aptly named AppCleaner.. and revert!
