i have been using Adium for ages and to be honest i quite like it, though today it's started doing some weird things.

The most annoying of which is only displaying my online MSN contacts for a few minutes, then they disappear and i'm left with only my online Gmail contacts. Is this a known bug or do i need a re-install.

...and if in need of a re-install, is there an alternative client worth looking into? i really only use MSN and Gmail these days, but also have yahoo and ICQ on the backburner (never really bother to sign them in anymore)

any advice appreciated. :)

Adium is the best you'll get imo, so I'd try uininstalling completely (delete the plist etc as well as the app), reinstall and test if out for a few hours.  If you're still having problems give something like aMSN a go to see if its actually Adium that's at fault, or your connection to the MSN network.

I know there have been problems with adium recently. I have a few friends with macbook pro's and they all say, along with me, that adium crashes all the time and drops their connection to MSN frequently. I did a full reinstall and i havent had problems for a while.
