I am using an Intel Mac, but that still didn't fix the issues. I don't get that text scaling option under settings either.

You seem to want as clear an image as possible so you should really go for a 4K screen and NOT run it in native resolution but scale up (so larger text)

 

You should be able to do that with your current monitor as well.

You're getting confused again.
Scale up refers to decreasing the resolution on the Mac to make a larger sized desktop relative to your screen.

A typical scale up example would be reducing a standard 4k screen into a 2560 x 1440 resolution , or a standard FHD 1920 x 1080.

Everything, it just sits in the printing queue at printing - ready. Printer works fine on every Windows machine, but the Mac? Nah, gotta make it hard as possible for a simple procedure.

Not sure what printer you're using but we had a similar problem with my son's macbook and a Brother Laser printer.  Only solved by installing an app on the macbook, and that will only print certain file types (eg JPG and PDF).  Hard to understand why common printer compatibility isn't in the OS, but Apple...

To be frank, if my father could manage printing on paper and on DVDs from a Mac mini when he had dementia, then it shouldn't be hard for the average person to plug and print on Mac.

i have never had a printer problem with macOS with, Epson, Canon, Brother or HP;

1 - I have probably missed this but what version of macOS are you using ?

2 - Also what make and model of printer are you using ?

3 - Next I would totally uninstall the printer via Preferences > Printers

THEN

4 - Using a small free program uninstall any app totally that that printer has installed AppCleaner. app

THEN

5 - Using another free program called Onyx. It is what I call a "Grease & Oil Change" maintenance program.

This is a FREE program that is a multifunction utility that you can use to verify the structure of the system files, to run miscellaneous maintenance and cleaning tasks, to configure parameters in the Finder, Dock, Safari, and some of Apple's applications, to delete caches, to remove certain problematic folders and files, to rebuild various databases and indexes, and more. I always use it prior and post system OS updates and about once a month.

6 - After all of that, shut down your mac and plug in your printer and turn it on. Fire your mac up > Preferences > Printers and add your printer. This should use the macOS default drivers and print settings. If you are happy with the macOS default way of printing, all good

Otherwise go to the manufacturers site and download all the requisite software (drivers for printer/scanner/etc & control panel). Oh - and don't forget to ensure your printer is using the most up-to-date firmware.

You don't say if you are using a printer cable or WiFi printer.

1 - ensure in Preferences > Printers & Scanners - that "Share this printer on the network is Ticked and that within "Sharing Preferences" that "Printer Sharing" is Ticked.

Apologises if I am teaching grandma how to suck eggs here but I thought that starting back to basics is the best way to go. It is what I always taught my nurse students when they had a medical machine problem.
