I'm not down there but 4.5m swells reported so far, normally 1-2m.

Supposed to be most impressive with up to 9m around 11/11.30am.

Watching it. The wind is nowhere near storm so the waves aren’t as high. Seen much, much worse and scary. Another hour before high tide begins and it’s not looking like devastation so far. Road is closed but waves not even near splashing across the road. I can’t see Owhiro Bay which may be slightly worse.

This was July 2021,  and from what I've seen reported it doesn't appear were any worse than this (so far)

Have been watching it all day. Nothing worse than any other Welly bad weather and certainly no 10 meter swells. Waves crashing yes. Police car blocking the coast road in Island Bay to further South West all day and not even wave spray over the stretch of road where they are and I suspect they will be there all night as well.

Maybe there’s more action around the corner near the Quarry but friends in Breaker Bay also report nothing unusual and they had moved their cars up the hill because of the evacuation order. Much of the day had sun, clouds and strong wind but nothing as dramatic as other times.
