Get it pulled... I would've asked them to do it on the spot.
I was lucky to have a good dentist and it only cost $150 a tooth, or 2 for $255.. :-D

Were they one of the crazy complicated back teeth that are held in by 3 nerves? I think thats why the price of this extraction was so crazy.

Lol what? So was it one of those ones held in by 3 roots or just 1? Because that means I'm being ripped off or something haha

Best solution is prevention. Hygenist once a year, dentist checkup once a year. Split both appointments over the year so that every 6months you seeing one of them.

Follow this, brush for 2 minutes twice a day.

I find most kiwis will only go to the dentist when there is pain. By then its too late and it results in expensive root canal treatment. Or having the tooth pulled.

So I took the last pill left last night just before 1AM.
Haven't taken any pain killers since about 4PM on Monday. No pain whatsoever. **touchwood**

Spoke to the dentist and he said that its find to leave it if its not causing any problems. But if it does start again, get another prescription, start the cycle of anti-biotics then as soon as it stops hurting, go get it taken out. I want to leave it this week because its approaching the end of my mid-semester break and I don't want to have any days where I cant work my best, so next week I'll probably go and get it taken out, maybe week after. Do it on Wednesday morning because I have a late class that day so can hopefully get ot hospital in time to get one of the 20 spots. Unless theres a dentist on here willing to help a brother out? ;D

sleemanj: Clove oil, available at any chemist.  Apply directly to tooth (on a cotton swab).

Also generic Ibuprofen and Paracetamol taken in combination (exactly the same as "Nuramol"), if you stagger the dose, it works better.

+1 many times over!  Large quantities of wine help as well

I turned up at ED once with intense abdominal pain. It wasn't until about 3/4 of an hour later when I passed out from my appendix rupturing that they paid any attention. I didn't see any sign of any floor nurse other than the bloke behind the perspex screen.

The most effective pain relief I've ever come across has been liquid panadol, which you don't seem to be able to get OTC, which is a shame because I have to take huge amounts of OTC painkillers before they do anything when I get my fun headaches.

When I've had the option of getting fillings or getting the tooth pulled, they can rip it out, costs about the same but means it's not likely to be an issue in the future.

The most pain I've ever felt was when I had dental surgery once and they did something wierd with the injection to knock me out.
