Decided to give the slow shipping a test (first time I have had a YS parcel since they introduced the two tiers.

Be interesting to see how slow it is and if the delay comes from Portland or once it lands in New Zealand.

Got my parcel and based on my last experience, the difference between regular and economy options are 1) no tracking until the parcel is in New Zealand and 2) artificial delay in Auckland for an extra day
Which to save $30NZ on postage is quite acceptable

Why? Fedex do that all the time on their economy options. Things landed but wont arrive for 2 days, cant even go to the airport and get it on the day it lands if you choose economy.

It sounds like a fundamental attribution error (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_attribution_error).

Not a logistic here, but my guess would be that the lower priority parcels are delivered after high priority parcels are all done and it takes some time. Or low priority parcels are not delivered until there is some amount of them is accumulated.

I've got a parcel at Youshop USA's warehouse which wasn't notified to me. By the time I realised it was there, more than 2 days had passed so I couldn't claim it using the tracking number.

I've now sent two emails via NZ post's National Contact Centre (https://support.nzpost.co.nz/app/ask/session/L3RpbWUvMTQ3NTgzMjMzOS9zaWQvVGtPNUh1Km0%3D) as directed, and even though it says they'll make contact by 5pm the following working day, so far nothing after more than 48 hours.

I'm happy to wait a few more days before taking the next step (an actual phone call), but just checking on others' experiences.

Also - how long can a parcel sit unclaimed at Youshop before it gets returned to sender?

Just an update. I received contact from Youshop this morning apologising for the delay, and my parcel was meant to have been placed in the "At the warehouse" queue. Unfortunately it is still not there, but *is* still searchable under "Claim your parcel". Sigh.

Does anyone know the average wait time recently on packages being processed to 'at the warehouse'? Had two items delivered there yesterday and still no notification to say it's at the warehouse yet.

It took slightly below 2 working days (warehouse local time) for me last week (USA youshop warehouse)

Normally 1 - 3 business days, also depends on the time of year.

I had a parcel that was notified as received at the warehouse on 24 Feb.

(note, this is when it is entered into the Youshop system by the warehouse staff, there is a delay between the parcel being marked as delivered in the delivering courier, and when the warehouse gets around to processing it a few days later)

On 1 March I got an email reminder, which said that it would be held for another 15 days.

On 7 March I got an email reminder, which said that it would be held for another 10 days.

Just before 7 March I did an online chat with Youshop support and was told that any parcel that arrives at the warehouse is held for 21 days and I was told that the 21 days ended on 16 March. The customer support person was also able to email the warehouse with an instruction to extend the hold period by a week and advised that the warning emails would continue despite the extension.

On 13 March I got an email reminder, which said that it would be held for another 5 days.

On logging in to Youshop about a week later, the parcel (which I had claimed but not paid) showed that payment was required by 8 April.

So that should give you a good idea of how long it can sit unclaimed/unpaid for at the warehouse.

FYI, I was waiting to combine this parcel with another parcel that had an estimated delivery date well before the 21 day deadline but was still meandering its way across America a week later!

Further update: Was contacted by Youshop 2 days ago, there was a small technical issue, and my parcel was subsequently properly listed and is now paid for and on the way.

I had a parcel sent to Youshop USA on 10 Oct, and yet I cannot claim the parcel. Does anyone have the same issue? Already launched investigation with NZ Post to try locate the package and no result yet. It has never taken this long to claim a package before it used to be always 1-2 day then you can successfully claim your package. I doubt my package can be missing as it's a medium sized box. The only possibility would be it was stolen by one of the Youshop USA warehouse employees.

Got stung on buying a business jacket, didnt think how big the box would be. Was going to be 55 normal or 41 economy. Still saved about $50 rather than buying locally.
