anyone used any company that will ship skis for cheap? 

 

one could fly return to the US, buy the skis there, and end up costing the same buying here!

I don't know anything about the price of skis but guessing more than NZD400? If so, GST payable?

Joker97 look at the-house.com they will ship to NZ, got my board from them, did have to pay duty in NZ but still a lot cheaper, shipped and received within the same week.

I asked about shoes a week or so ago. Here are actual costs

 

Standard

 

 

 

 

 

5 - 9 days : $55.25 in original packaging, $36.00 repacked inc repacking fee

 

9-14 days: $40.50 in original packaging, $27.50 repacked inc repacking fee

 

 

 

I find economy usually takes about the same as standard, so I usually choose that.

I didn't realise this, but there is no way to prevent an item from being repacked. Before I even knew my parcel had arrived at the USA warehouse, this had already been done.

I do indeed have pictures of the packaging and the damaged item itself. NZ Post have asked me to ship everything to them so they can assess the damage themselves.

 

 

Following up on this: I have now received compensation (the item's original purchase price plus the YouShop fees) from NZ Post.

 

However, I have still lost money: the cost of postage from the seller to YouShop's USA warehouse. Also, the only replacement items available are more expensive than the one which got damaged.

 

Overall, NZ Post's local staff have been helpful and have refunded me as much as could be expected. It's a shame about the staff in the USA - I still won't use YouShop again until there is a way to opt out of their careless repacking.

Just to say that I'm no longer going to use YouShop's "fast" US service option over the economy one as I've spotted no difference in delivery speeds with my economy parcels usually take just as long as the "express ones".

 

I was reminded of this today as I decided to pay the extra to get an Echo Dot here in time for a birthday. I need it by the tenth, and as they took quite a few days after delivery before listing the item I went for the more expensive "5-9 day" option on the first, paying minutes after they informed me that the parcel was now in their warehouse.  I have now received notification that the parcel has been sent by them with an expected arrival of the seventeenth. Needless to say that the additional payment for speedy delivery seems to be a waste of time.

I find economy quick too, I wouldn't bother with express. I could compare the regular speed from last year with the express this year if anyone cares enough and I have time.

it's possible that express goes into container first, but still needs full crate before it ships, but that if there's not enough express economy also goes in?

Has anyone sent anything electronic through youshop lately? I would like to buy a Kindle and reading through their terms they are a bit confusing. If something is in the original box then is that ok?

It's fine for anything from Amazon. Though you might find it's cheaper to buy locally when you take shipping into account.

Has anyone brought off Bestbuy US successfully using youshop? I see they don't ship to known forwarding addresses not sure if youshop is on this list.

I haven't had any issues with eBay myself (and I'm a big YouShop user) but I just thought it was worth pointing out. Technically by using YouShop, we void our Ebay Money Back Guarantee, so if you received the wrong / damaged / faulty item or such, and the seller wanted to be, they could deny any request for money back.

 

On https://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html under "What's covered" and then under "Not covered" it says "Items shipped to another address after original delivery."
