Kyanar:

Er, can't you tell Amazon to hold all of your order until they can ship it in one go?  I distinctly recall that being an option - and for free super saver shipping the only option.

Amazon uses fulfillment centres all over the US. For example I tried purchasing both from Amazon direct and their 'warehouse deals.' It had to be two shipments because they were being shipped from different parts of the country. There was no way of consolidating it.

What other shops are good to get stuff from in the states - that is considerate packaging, will hold the order till it can go at once and doesnt use a mammoth box with bags of air etc?

Im probably going to do a monoprice.com order in a few weeks once I have recovered from my most recent ebay binge, but am keen on other suggestions.

My package arrived in the US warehouse and I was notified promptly. I used the kiwibank discount code and paid for it. Now I just wait and see how long it takes to turn up.

Do they deliver using post or courier? My package is shoes, it won't fit in the mailbox, but CourierPost have a key to a secure area at my house.

Can anyone tell me the forwarding cost of a Kindle from Amazon using the YouShop service?

Also is your account number necessary within your username as youshop advises? Because it is included in the address, my point being if you have already created an account(on amazon, ebay etc) a lot of the time you cant add this in.

Oh also has anyone been successful purchasing from Newegg.com with this service they offer some awesome deals that I want!

I wouldn't imagine the forwarding cost is very high as the Kindle is fairly light and usually very efficiently/minimally packed (I'd guess <$30 but someone probably has a more accurate number)

You don't need your account number in your username.  You need it in the name in your shipping address which is set independently of your username.

I'm pretty sure someone has purchased from Newegg - search the thread.  Newegg are generally pretty vigilant on freight forwarders, so there are no guarantees it still works.

Received my wife's Paperwhite on Tuesday - from Amazon via YouShop. The YouShop charge was NZ$14.66, after the 'kiwibank10' discount.

I got an email from YouShop on the Saturday of Labour Weekend saying Kindle was there in
Portland. Paid the YouShop charge $14.66 and it arrived at my workplace 8.00 am Tuesday 30 Oct - so it took 10 days Portland > Auckland delivery.

Later that day I got an email from NZ Post saying the package had been delivered and signed for at 2.30 pm. It seems that this message is timestamped when the operator enters it, not when the delivery actually took place.

Awesome, finally received the go ahead from the boss, and have pushed the button on my kindle order. Paperwhite, no special offers, and kindle leather case to go with it.
Estimated 5-7 weeks to ship from amazon, no worries tho is only a present for myself!

Cheers,
Joseph

You'll have a leather case pretty soon. Along with a $17.25 shipping bill.

In 4-6 weeks you will have a Kindle, along with another shipping bill.

Here's my experience, buying a two-pack of marine VHF radios from Amazon (best NZ price is $145 each):
Registered for youshop and placed Amazon order on 18 Oct, cost inc free amazon delivery $86.56 ($105NZ)
Parcel arrived in youshop US warehouse on 15 Oct, and I paid the $26.75 fee that afternoon
Parcel arrived NZ - 31 Oct
Parcel delivered (Orewa) 1 Nov
So, two weeks total time but I get two radios for $132 instead of one for $145.  The charger is multi-voltage so works fine in NZ, but does need a travel adapter to plug into NZ socket (like most of my gadgets)
Amazon packed quite efficiently, adding about 25% to the total volume of the manufacturer's box

A thumbs-up for youshop from me
