That doesn't augur well. I got a notification yesterday but there is nothing on the site yet. It is Sunday in the US so perhaps they will have people working on Monday?

So you got a notification from usps or something that it had arrived at the youshop warehouse? If kiwitrc's package is anything to go by then it sounds like they are majorly backlogged and you won't hear from them anytime soon, possibly even until sometime next week.. That is a shambles, surely they would hire more staff! I looked up the warehouse on google maps, it looks like they have outsourced it to OIA Global Logistics, most likely using this service

garvani: What are the processing times like now? Are they still taking a week to get the package out the door after you have paid etc. I have a package on its way to the warehouse now, just wondering how long ill be waiting! :)

I had one arrive Wed last week and am still to hear from them.

As an aside I wonder what the operation is like over there? It could be a simple as a small office with one person who makes runs to the PO each day :-) Perhaps even a university student.

Not overly concerned yet as its not urgent, can always go back to comgateway if they dont perform.

The notification came from Youshop saying a package had arrived. So it's in their system now and I just have to wait I guess.

aha sweet. Were you tracking it yourself? do you know when it actually arrived in their warehouse and how long it took for them to notify you?

I've used the service a few times now but my opinion is starting to slip.
The first few deliveries were fine, but now the turnaround times are starting to creep out to to multlple days (e.g. I can see from a courier trace that a delivery has arrived at the warehouse, but it can then take 3 days for them to register it and send out the mail requesting value/payment)
I understand that it's approaching Christmas but I would have expected additional demand might have been anticpated
The most recent delivery I had, I found that the final (NZ) destination/delivery address was actually missing a line (company name) so I was actually quite fortunate that it found its way to me..
Will maybe try out an alternative serviec next time

I wasn't tracking it myself. The notification came from Youshop with a reference number.

I have an item on its way. US Postal Service tracking said it had arrived at the Portland Post Office at 2.35 a.m. 28 Nov.

I got an email from YouShop at 3 p.m. Sat 1 Dec (our time) saying it had arrived at their warehouse at 1.00 p.m. 30 Nov (their time). Paid the on-ship charges with 10% discount.

Now waiting for them to confirm that it has left Portland for Auckland.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Well I finally completed my first Youshop transaction (I paid for the postage) and as I feared, the postage was way more than it should have been. The item weighed 1kg (it was just a two line phone costing US$48). But because of the way Amazon packed it, I got socked for a volumetric weight of 3kg so about $45. For an item weighing 1kg the postage should have been more like $22.

So I think the service might be okay for small items like Kindles, SSD's etc., for larger items that are packed in large boxes, the postage is a killer.

It would be interesting to compare the shipping costs to other forwarders, for example for 3KG on ComGateway  its NZ$55 but from memory thats using DHL, and they seem a lot faster to process goods once they hit their centre.

What annoyed me was the fact that the package weighed 1kg. It was the volumetric weight that killed me. If I had say had to sent to my daughter in CA, I would have been up for sales tax or about $3. But then she could have repackaged it and sent it so it was 1kg and perhaps only $20. I just didn't want to hassle her and also try out the service.

Today we had a reason to use the service, so ordered something from Amazon on a three day delivery to the depot. Let's see how it goes.

lchiu7: I have tried my first ship. Post charges by volumetric weight so possibly a package that is relatively light but in a large box might attract more postage than if it were packed more compactly? Anybody had experience with that scenario?

Yes I got stung with this one - After my first youshop experience being very quick and cheap I thought I'd try to send a 2nd hand Bass guitar using the service. Big mistake!
I received an email from the youshop warehouse that it was going to cost a staggering NZ$298!!! for a 12kg item...I was gutted. Thankfully I had the 15% discount code which saved me NZ$50 but considering that a year prior I had a Bass guitar shipped direct using USPS Priority Intl. for NZ$100 cheaper I would've expected it to get to me quicker but it took about the same amount of time.

So yeah, it's great for small items, not so much for the bulkier stuff.

My second package arrived at the youshop warehouse 8am yesterday, no contact yet. I'm sure they'll get around to it, but this isn't a service you use if you're in a hurry. I need my package by mid Jan so no great problem.

I have some VFF's that just arrived at the youshop warehouse, so we'll see how long it takes for them to get around to processing it..

Just got two emails that two parcels are ready to ship. Used YouShopBF1 for 10% discount on one and KIWIBANK10 for 15% on the other, both worked. So now I guess its wait for shipping details. Still one parcel to be logged in though.
