Noodles: Using Youshop at the moment to get a package from the US. Paid customs and they released it on the 24th (day before ANZAC day). NZPost has it as "destination sort" and the status hasn't changed since the 24th. Who would have thought it would take a week to get from one side of Auckland to the other. It didn't even take a week to get from the US.

That is weird, If NZ post have it, it usually goes out for delivery pretty quickly.

It isn't over the Customs threshold is it? They could have it.

I had to pay GST. It was received by customs on the 17th, I paid on the 24th and it was released by customs on that day. Next time I think I'll use another service.

Why would you use another service? You have to pay GST to Customs regardless of which service you use - the amount to pay is based on the price declaration plus shipping costs so unless other companies lie on the declaration or are a lot cheaper then you won't be any better off.

I think its more that NZ post has taken their time getting it to him after Customs released it.

But, there have only been 2 working days since then, and I imagine there is a pile of stuff there from the holidays.

I have no problem with paying the GST, it was more the delays within NZPost.

A huge thanks to 4Possm for his discount code! I purchased a limited edition Record Store Day 2014 vinyl from Amazon (forgot the Geekzone affiliate link, sorry :-(). Shipping was calculated at $22, but after the discount was reduced to $5.50! YouShop had also given me a 15% discount code (THANKYOU15, expires today), but I didn't want to risk it superseding the 75% discount, so I didn't apply it.

So while this was a much better YouShop experience than my last attempt, it makes more of a mockery of my last one. The YouShop CSR back then insisted they could not give me as much as a 10% discount, whereas their Twitter presence gave me a 15% one just for starting a dialog with them.

New discount code for YouShop (UK and US) is mothersday2014 and valid until 12 May 2014. Work on single shipment for 15% discount.

Keeping our eyes on nzpost twitter :)

Just had some new Ice Hockey skates arrive at Youshop $90 for shipping AHHH.

If anyone has a spare large discount code that would come in very useful right now, otherwise I'll live with the mothersday one :)

Was chatting with a lady at my local Post Office RE: Amazon shipping prices VS YouShop and she said if it's a one off purchase, subscribe to the Amazon Prime trial for free shipping and have it forwarded to the YouShop warehouse in Oregon because it works out to be cheaper. Ughhh, my wireless keyboard just arrived and it's gonna cost me $45 dollars (with the THANKYOU15 discount code) through YouShop, as opposed to the $15 NZD it would've cost me if I had just gone with Amazon.

Just use the $125 free shipping deal from amazon. Slow-ish but so cheap if it works for your stuff.

Yeah I posted a review on youshop a while back.

Basically it only works out if you can not get it sent direct from the store. DO not send through Youshop if you can get it directly

My $80 parcel has been sitting on "destination sort" for days now too. Wonder what's going on with these?

Phone NZPost and it will get to you fast. I did this and mine came through a few days later. Was thinking it was lost.

I've had a package sitting at "Held for clearance" for a couple of days now. I think I read on the NZ Post website that they send a letter with details of any GST/duty to be paid though that seems a little crazy when they could email it? How did other people get notified of the duty to be paid to Customs?

Easiest way is to ring customs as soon as you know it is being held, you can organise payment over the phone straight away
