My dear sweet puss Blackie has been at the vet since Sunday. He's quite unwell and we don't know if he will pull through.

Love you my black kitten. cry

Poor Blackie, hope he recovers.  Looks just like our Darwin.

One of the hardest parts of having companion animals :( Wishing you and him all the best. What's wrong with Blackie?

My folks had a cat that looked like Blackie.... he was called "Midget" and he was no midget...  one of the tallest cats Ive seen. Also had nasty claws which he never (or couldnt) retracted - could always hear him coming thru the kitchen on the lino floor :)
Worst tree climber ever tho.... remember having to climb trees to get him down.....

Our bunny again, She is not very happy she is not the centre of attention anymore (we have a 3 month old baby). But she does love the baby's activity mat.

I have three dogs, but making any of my images small enough to post to GZ doesn't do them justice! Even iPhone images are too big for GZ, which is odd.

these are my fur monsters,

Bean

above is Bean, she only has one eye and was kept in a small cage for the first 5 years of her life. she is untrusting of anything that makes sudden movement but she treats me like a mother and follows me everywhere. she also never stops talking. ever.

toey

above is Toey, she only has three legs and was rescued after being left to walk around with clean broken leg...I have no idea for how long. the only truly accurate way to describe her is 'retarded', she doesn't know how to cat as she was probably separated from her mother too young. She is known to flip out randomly and also do the dumbest things ever. She eats anything and, unlike bean, never makes a sound. She is also insanely fast for a three legged animal.

Thanks for the kind words, peeps.

We visited him again this morning. The vet said his liver enzyme function is way too high. They did another blood test to compare it to one he had about a month ago.

The next step is keeping him on antibiotics to see if that improves his liver. Blackie was born about Jan 2000, so he's a fairly old puss now.

I would love a little more time with him if I can, provided his quality of life is preserved.

These two are very lucky animals.  Thanks for rescuing them!  No need to purchase animals these days. :)

I'm pretty sure I've posted about her before.  But this is Hazel.

Hazel

We rescued her from a doggy poo bin in a dog park opposite Motat after my girlfriend had finished walking the dogs.  Hazel was completely covered in crap and had obviously been dumped by someone left to starve.  Far too young to be away from her mother. Hazel was brought home, showered, watered, fed and put on TradeMe.  Then I came home and said that we are keeping her!  :)

Hazel

She has been in a war zone since.  She loves one-upping the cat across the gully and it comes to fight her.  She's got a big balled square patch on her thigh from an operation and a patch missing from her head from an allergic reaction.  People look at our cat and wonder if we abuse it LOL. Hazel's favorite things to do are, talk a lot.  Try and bat food out of the cup before it gets to the bowl (impatient much) claw everything and wrestle with other dogs and our pet magpie. I have a video of Hazel wrestling with Buddy the magpie which I may upload to YouTube later today. :)
