Others may have got the following email invite from Pandora to attend an event hosted by Tim Westergren of Pandora. In case you didnt here it is.

Dear Listener,

I'm very excited to let you know that I'll be traveling to New Zealand in less than two weeks to celebrate the launch of Pandora. In keeping with an age old Pandora tradition, I'll be personally hosting an open town hall event for Pandora listeners. The get together is very informal and is a chance for us to get to know listeners - to gather feedback and to also share our history and our vision for the future of Pandora, and for digital music in general. We'll be holding the event in Auckland on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30pm, at the Viaduct Events Centre at the Edge. I know it may be a bit of a trek, but if you're game I'd love to have you there. We know we have a lot to learn about the music and musical culture of New Zealand, and we're eager to get started. If you're interested in a drink, some nibbles and a spirited discussion about all things digital music, shoot me an email back and we'll send over all the details. Friends are more than welcome - just let us know how many. Hope to see you there. Cheers, – Tim (Founder)WHAT:Pandora Listener Town HallWHEN:Monday, December 10th, 6:30 p.m. WHERE:The Edge

I recently came across the following article at arstechnica:

Pandora's Internet radio bill hits a wall of opposition in Congress
One rep. calls the Internet Radio Fairness Act a "Paycheck Reduction Act."

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/11/pandoras-internet-radio-bill-hits-a-wall-of-opposition-in-congress/

I wonder what Pandora feels about royalties it will be paying to NZ artists.

I've shoehorned the app onto my phone and it works fine.

I've got an Alpine car stereo sitting on my desk here which interfaces with the iOS Pandora app as well, not sure how practical that is given mobile bandwidth in NZ though.

Be good to get some official support here regardless.

Please don't tell me you've fallen for the Recording Industry's propaganda... Pandora still pays far and away more than radio stations pay to broadcast their music, and the bill they're backing is designed to get internet radio treated the same as metal tower radio.

Side note, I'd be happy if Pandora just started actually having some NZ music.

Pandora was great way back, but with all the music streaming options out there I feel they have fallen behind quite a bit.

Ive been pretty happy with pandora myself. Even happy enough to pay them their $36US/yr.. So much easier than sorting thru all my music to find something to listen to :p
