Hi there.

Sometime this year I was looking at going to Auckland for a week or so for a "holiday" of sorts. I want to go to two Warriors (Rugby League) home games and was looking at hotels/motels in Auckland/near Mt Smart stadium.

Does anybody have any idea of what's good and what's bad? Past experiences? Places you recommend and places you will never go back 2?

I want somewhere that is close to the airport, but close to the Stadium as well. (Don't know if they are close by or not)? Somewhere that is near a supermarket would be helpful and also near a shopping centre would be cool as well.

I plan on staying a week or maybe a tad longer.

Thanks!!!

Depends what else you want to do in Auckland and what kind of shopping. Onehunga is the nearest town shopping centre.

I'm not aware of any motels within easy walking distance of mt smart stadium. IMHO best option is stay in the Auckland city centre and get the bus to the games.

What about Ellerslie or IBIS Greenlane, which gets you about halfway between MT Smart and Slyvia Park.

And close to Trains if want to use them to get to downtown

Mt. Smart is very close to the main Trains and Onehunga lines so anywhere near the train would be good. Look at the hotels near Ellerslie Racecourse perhaps?

The Airport has some reasonably priced places and there is the shopping centre there as well. If you aren't going to hire a car then there are shuttle buses going in and out all the time.

Onehunga isn't that far away and has everything you need and the walk is minimal as I used to do it.

May pay to check out some of the rental car places as they can do good deals if you don't want a flash car and it gives you a lot more options.
