Kyanar: Out of curiousity, has anyone actually seen the latest episode yet? Cause I felt it kind of answered the question pretty well unless I'm missing something (or got something that everyone else is missing)?

Pretty good end to the current series.

Ditto the previous Neil Gaiman story.

Atleast they put it out on FTA and didn't put it on a subscription only channel.

I'd love to have Prime in HD on freeview given their current lineup.

I have seen the final episode.

1. It answer's the Clara question fine - in a fairly expected way.

2. Frankly, I didn't really like the episode much, worst of the season really, but I seem to be alone in this, everybody else seems to love it.

My beef is that; River was insipid and a bit pointless. The new enemy were a bit blah. The old enemy was also rather blah. The "twist ending" that everybody seemed so excited about... well... eh, we don't know everything that lurks in The Doctor's mind, we've seen his torment and fall from grace many times before, we know he's done things that he would rather forget and certainly doesn't speak about, that his "timeline" contains this isn't really a big thing.

Anyway, for me I found the episode an anticlimax, not that this Clara season has been very climatic at all, there just hasn't been much of an arc, I don't care about Clara as a character, she's just a companion, feels like a temporary one who should have been there for one episode (Asylum of the Daleks) and finish, compare her to the other primary companions, Amy, Martha, Donna, Rose, heck even Jack, and Clara just doesn't have "it".

Edit to add, the "reveal", it almost felt like the production team were all "we need a cliff hangar, something to get people screaming out for MORE!".  Well, I would tell the production team to go get the Farscape DVD's for examples of what a real cliff hangar series ending is!

Nope, you are not alone!  Didn't like it myself either; my (teenaged) kids weren't impressed much either.

Actually, real cliff hanger endings would be those from either the TV series Jericho (which resulted in people delivering tons of peanuts to the network's head office when they cancelled it) or Firefly, which we're STILL waiting for another series of.

Farscape I agree with as well though, that was a really cool show.

(Edit: Or Stargate Universe.  Cancelled IMMEDIATELY after it finally got to the bloody point and started being interesting).

Right-o, I have caught up. I don't think it was as bad as all that -- a bit cheesy in the last 15 mins perhaps.

Clara - agree with the opinions here: I think she is what it says on the box and no more. Would have been cool if there was more of a build up; as it was, it was a bit of an anticlimax.

River - have been a big fan of the River episodes. Not here though. Perhaps it was too much of an ensemble; she just didn't steal the show like she usually does.

The cliff hanger - nah, I can wait. Would be cool if it was the Master though...

The Whoniverse has exploded all over the internet with this news.

I certainly have my favourites in my head. Most of them have comedy backgrounds.

Hmm, because the Christmas special has already been filmed, and because they haven't yet chosen the next actor, we'd have to assume we're not going to see #12 till next season. (Unless they refilm the end of the special.)

I did see this Tweet this morning which I'd love to see:

@dhewlett: “@Dunne79: @dhewlett for the 12th Doctor!” I wouldn't say no! ;-)

Doctor Who celebrates 50 years with biopic and new Doctor:

The BBC has said it will debut a new doctor in a Christmas special. As fans eagerly await the new appointment of the good Doctor, the network will celebrate "Doctor Who's" 50th anniversary with a biopic film about the show's origins.

"An Adventure in Space and Time" will premiere later this year (the air date hasn't been announced) and fictionally recounts the creation of series while exploring the team behind its first episode. "Sherlock" TV series creator and actor Mark Gatiss wrote the script, and "Game of Thrones" actor David Bradley stars as William Hartnell, the actor who played the first Doctor.

Loved David Tennant, and tried to enjoy the new doctor. I got up to season 6, episode 7 - "A Good Man Goes to War Part One", and I just couldn't take the poor writing anymore. The acting wasn't terrible, but it was like watching a childrens book where the writer was a potato. Decided at the time not to get back into it after the hiatus.

Did it get any better after the middle of season 6? Or do people think I'm crazy for not liking it as it was?
