freitasm: Does anyone remember Hyapatia Lee and Tracy Lords?

The 80s were groovy...

I'm too young to remember Tracy Lords. But then again, so was she.

freitasm: I bought a USB 3 adapter to plug a SSD to my laptop. Also getting an Intel NUC this week. Will put 4GB RAM and 128 GB SSD mSATA and replace my Dell Zino HD HTPC in the lounge with that.

This is a little gem from the thread, what model Intel NUC? Also interested to find out what USB 3 adaptor? Sorry to go off topic.

Oh, that's cool. The ringer on my iPhone 4S has completely stopped working this morning. I'm sure that has nothing at all to do with slow corrosion after having been briefly dunked in the surf at Long Bay a couple of months ago.

Poor iPhone.

Can you please turn on LTE today? And load up a $10 for 10gig pack on my account yesterday. And block muppets from being able to communicate digitally with me through your network? Thanks much even though you don't deserve thanks you owe me those services anyway.

jeez Salty, You should check with Don he will have some contacts and a way for you to get a new phone as in no way was this your fault... you will probably get a new phones as a replacement with unlimited data as a way of an apology for this occurring to you the phone companies should have seen this occurring and should compensate you accordingly.

I take the point and I think a few valid ones have been made even with the humours sarcastic mocking.

The world has changed.  We're not in the era of thin connections any more.

I agree with the suggestion that you just don't want noise on a thin connection and even filtering out the noise was expensive, but those days are gone.

MF is right about the value of web based forums with moderators.  While it is censorship, I like it.

I guess my real point was wondering why objectors don't make direct contact with posters rather than filling up lists with objection?
