Hey guys

I watch the X factor all the time, I've even been to two of the live shows.

Everytime I watch the X factor, you can't understand half of what comes out of Blatt's mouth.

I know she has an accent and all, however British accents usually sound beautiful, but hers is anything but.
Maybe it's just beacause she comes from a different part of the UK, which I seriously doubt.

Also, this is coming by what I've seen on the live shows myself first hand, she can hardly walk straight. She kind of staggers from backstage to the judges chairs, and back again whenever threre's a commerical break. Maybe it's her heels, but over time, if you were them around the clock, you usually get used to them, and you walk normally. (Please don't say I'm wrong on that one, as most of geekzone's subscribers are males, and I hope none of you go wearing heels.)

What do you guys think?

Thanks

I think if I had to judge xfactor let alone watch it, I think I'd need to be drinking to make it work too :)

might be time to get your airs checked.
I've neeeeever seen xfactor but have heard her speak plenty of times in other situations and have never had any problem understanding her.

There is nothing wrong with her accent, it sounds perfectly normal. There is no such thing as a "UK accent", there are literally hundreds of regional dialects in the UK and in a city like London people who have lived there their whole life and live only a few miles apart may sound completely different.

British accents vary hugely, you pretty much walk across the road and find a new accent. YouTube for a Scouse accent for example, it's not exactly the Queens English.

Most of my family live in the Essex area, some of the Catherine Tate show sketches are a bit close to home :P

My wife and daughter love the show, wouldn't miss it for the world!

I struggle with the judging, it has a fairly obvious bias toward end profitability of winner rather than raw talent

The show itself is ok (the acts). The judging? Not so much.

When these folks start talking like "you have to find your inner self to connect to the audience and when you can transmit this to your voice and reach a new level..." then I know it's turned into crap and I zone out.

That's only when I am in the lounge actually, if not playing Diablo III in the office, which is a lot more fun.

What amazes me is they have now removed all the singers that could actually sing.

When they voted off Anna it cracked me. One of the judges said 'you haven't got one note wrong this entire competition' but then voted her off in favour of those maori boys from ChCh. So much facepalm.

That show is awful and fully scripted.

Judges comments are to sway the voters and remember it's probably mostly females between the age of 14-20 who vote.

For example, Anna Wilson (or whatever her name was, the blonde girl) isn't going to sell records or shows like one of the groups would.

(I don't actively watch the show, its on in the background while doing other things)

I watch it OnDemand to intentionally avoid the judges comments which unfortunately can't be helped for the decision shows and during those Mel's accent does sound like she's slurring.

No matter which program it is - The Voice, Got Talent, X-factor - or which country it is, I still enjoy the audition rounds the best.  Lots of spontaneous magical performances whereas the 'normal' rounds are too staged.
