It may a different story with bigger schools but in smaller schools (ie. a 2 teacher school), the report plays an important part.

A teacher actually left because of a bad report made (I can probably dig up the report from their website, though it is about 5-8 years old).

Still there is no need to publicly shame teachers, they do a good job. Look at what happened recently with the CFS social workers and the CFS Watch blog. Bad.

I have seen many bad comments on teachers from when I was at school. I know most of them have just been made up by vindictive students. Yet despite many rebutals on the comments they still stand.

CommanderOne: I don't quite see why everyone is getting so worked up. Why are teachers any different from other professions? They get reviewed, so why not teachers? Shouldn't parents know whats really going on in classrooms?

Right. So a site such as ratemystudents.co.nz would be ok too? I'd love to see anonymous teachers posting about some of the students around...

Your not the first to think of it, but it would be against the law, hence why it hasn't been made, lol.

I know about the CFS site, but you can hardly compair the two. CFS workers are always in touch with people that basicly hate them, all the time. Of course they aren't going to get a good report! Its like doing an audit of prisions to find out how well arresting officers are doing :P

But about the small school thing,of course they are, being a small school. But big schools make up the majority of schools, and influence the most students, so the system doesn't work :P

So its ok for students to make up rubbish and defame their teachers but not the other way around. What screwed up logic.

That site is just stupid. Stupid stupid stupid

Yes, its no longer innocent till proven guilty.... its guilty till proven innocent (in the case of those accusations that are made on the site).

Not really. Teachers play a big part in stuents lives, right up to choosing what subjects they take and their future job, students dont so much. They dont really play a big part in teachers lives, and they are U18, so its against the law.

And yet I havent seen anyone make any reference to the good ratings on the site. Like I said before, all comments are moderated and most of them are good ones made for the teachers, not against.

Actually those choices lie with the students and their parents. What says you cant say anything against a U18?

To an extend, but they are majorly influenced by the people that teach the students.

And its about posting personal information about a minor, dont ask me anuthing else, I don't know, not being a lawyer and all.

Furthermore - is the information verified before it goes live? Obviously moderation can only go so far and correcting it afterwards is obviously damaging nevertheless as it gets indexed and cached on Google etc.

It should be noted that CommanderOne is a moderator on the Rate My Teachers forums.

CommanderOne: I was just looking throught he web, and found this site. It looks really interesting, give our opinions on the people who offer us our future, lol. I was just wondering if anyone else had been on it or herd of it?

So really this is all an advertising stunt. Did you really think you wouldn't be found out eventually? You should have been up front about your involvement with this site. Consider yourself persona non grata
